Fast 5's š #15: Mental Warfare, The Best Athletes Have This in Common, & How to Melt Excuses.
For The Crazy Ones
āļø Listen to the audio version! I add more detail + you get more of my energy in it!āļø
Iām not going to bore you with the details of why I havenāt been posting.Ā
Iāve been in a state of living, building, moving, and thinking.Ā
First - want to thank everyone that reached out for the template from my last post. It was really cool to see how many people are engaged on my instagram stories and wanted the journaling tool.Ā
I appreciate you all!Ā
With that - a headās up that I will be switching the format of the newsletter. I am going to keep 5 bullets and switch it up as a I go. Maybe add aĀ small essay here or there for some longer format, who knows.
Creations that come out of you will evolve as you evolve.Ā It was time for a change.Ā
Nonetheless - here is the fast 5ās from my week that you might want to take into yours.
#1 - Wisdom in Simplicity. ā
āTo attain knowledge, add things everyday.
To attain wisdom, remove things every day.ā
- Lao TsuĀ
#2 - Setting attainable goals. š
I used to think really ambitious goals were inspiring.
But now I realize that setting achievable goals is cooler.
Hitting goals that are not that ambitious lead to a better outcome than missing incredibly ambitious goals because with every small winā¦momentum builds.
In any sport and life you always want momentum on your side.
#3 - The best athletes have this in common. š¤
To me it always seems that the best athletes make the game look effortless.
What Iāve come to find is this: Ā
The more effortless you want it to lookā¦
The more EFFORT it will take to build that skill.
Whether itās a behind the back shot or your ability to control emotions - Make hard look easy.
#4 - Mental Warfare: Excuses fade through action. š§
Itās amazing how many dumb games your mind will play with you to make sure you do NOT do something you know you NEED to do.
Before every run, your knees hurt. Before the gym, you are suddenly tired. But if you push through it you realize all those things the mind says (makes up) fade away in action.
The magic youāre looking for is in the work that youāre avoiding.
Learn to laugh at the brain. Who knows maybe sometimes the brain needs a nice punch.
The only fight that truly matters is your ability to see it for what it really is (a thought) and choose to rise above it.
The mind just plays games. Itās how we are evolutionarily wired.
Once you realize thisā¦ you can start playing.
#5 - For better or worse? š š
My coach in college used to say you are either helping the team or hurting the team. Thereās no neutrals.
As I have gotten older I have realized this.
In every encounter you have with another human, you hold alot of power.
You have the ability to make your interaction with them amazing. This is where they get more energy from it and have a better day because they interacted with you.
You also have the ability to make their day worse. Where you deplete their energy and they go on with one more irritation throughout the day.
You can push them closer to the cliff or you can turn them around.
Stay Crazy!
